Hi,
Last week I purchased my First Bmw.
It's an M3 coupe 1 year old.
Today while sitting idle in the car with the engine running I can hear an unusual bubbling type noise.
Turned engine off and it went, turned it back on and nothing, then after about 10 seconds it starts up again.
When you listen from both rear wheel arches you can hear this noise but no louder than inside.
My other half said it sound like something boiling,
Could it be the fuel pump?
I do have half a tank of fuel so i cannot see it struggling.

Any ideas as I am a new owner,,may be something that you all know about.

Cheers,

Dave.

Either pressure equalising in the tank or the fuel return doing its stuff. Try the same question on the BMW M forum.

My current car makes a noise like a small foghorn for 10 minutes after a run.

Did you buy an SMG2 car ?

Sometimes you can hear the hydraulic pump working on the smg cars, burbles quietly. Both the normal 6spd clutch car and the SMG car also have a wonderful variable M differential lock, which has an axial piston pump so some times it too can make the odd noise.

Mine also makes hydralic noises when you unlock the doors as the pumps start up at this time.

how's the car going ?
