Anyone else find them nothing short of useless in the snow?

Got other RWD cars up my drive (fairy steep uphill tarmac)in the past, but the 1 Series combined with a full of fuel plus additional ballast was a joke, I thought with the relatively heavy 2.0 diesel block upfront and a well loaded boot would ensure decent enough traction, but the hard run flat tyres just would not grip (only 16inc wheels too)

Had to dig mine out of the drive today, ( 118d sport, 142 wheels 225/45 17 on the rear!) took about 1hr to get it up a small slope onto the main road. My wifes mercedes was even more usless ( ESP does not disengage ). Once out though I had a great time and couldn't find much to stop it until I got to the work car park tonight for Night Shift. Cue an audience laughing and a BMW going nowhere ( sideways )! Sorted in the end though, looking forward to the morning....ice.

(two new Runflat Eufori@'s were fitted last week on the rear)

I dtched the RFT's on my Z4 3.0i within two weeks of getting it, what a transformation !!, my car is alive all of a sudden, how the hell BMW passed off this car with RFT's baffles me, i'm sure it's the same for other models too

Before we bought the 3 series, I had gone in with the intention of buying a 120D M Sport.

The car was excellent in every department, apart from one. The quality of the ride was dreadful.

In the end I went for the 3 series and the demo car was an SE spec one with smallish wheels. The ride and handling were much better, but of course I wanted an M Sport model. The M Sport with 18" wheels and Sports suspension is Ok, but that is all I can really say.

Although having said that we drove a 325D M Sport yesterday and the ride and handling on that car was much better than my own, but other than additional weight of the engine I don't know why it felt better.
