Evenin’

Can anyone suggest a source for some E38 LWB Sill Covers, as fitted to the later model year (post 2001 I think) cars - these basically:

Obviously don't want to pay Dealership (bandit) prices, so any other options most welcome.

Thanks.

FAB Direct is a depressing site.

Depressing one: all those broken cars make me sad
Depressing two: I want to buy those wheels and those lights and I quite like the look of that interior and ooh is that an M5 steering wheel and STOP IT YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT

Right - after phoning all of the salvage yards in the UK (and all of the suggestions above - thanks guysthumbup ), I've decided I can't wait any longer and am going to go the dealership route to buy the parts (only £100 each plus VAT).

The question is, will these sills (that were a standard fit on later cars) fit directly onto a 1996??

(The guy in the dealership said 'he thinks so' rolleyes )

They don't fit. I've got a pair in my garage (SWB) and tried everywhere to get them fitted but the pre facelift cars don't have the required fixing points and also the sills aren't as deep. There have been some stories about people getting them fitted but they are usually bodge jobs. One BMW bodyshop drilled through a the washer bottle on the last and only one they attempeted to fit. Guy said he would never fit another.

Thanks for the post Baggio, but this guy seems to have managed and it doesn't look too bad (got this link from another site)

Yeah it is possible but its not a straight forward fit as some people imagine. I just couldn't find anyone willing to fit them at reasonable cost. Those that had done it before didn't want to touch it. Good luck with yours mate or you could do what did and buy a facelift 7. . . .

Why not just paint the sills to match the car if you have the black as standard?

Becuase they have that rough texture to them, and mine are a bit damaged. IMO it'll be worth it.
