New boy to the BMW world. Just got 318i Touring Lux (see other thread about buying it)
Headlamp adjuster only moves the near side light. Drivers side stays static with a faint wobble that is barely noticable. And main beam lamps need adjusting. Easy fix or weekend job?
Also the neat little tourch in glovebox only charges up to a faint glow. Can it be repaired, are the batteries rechargable types?

Great car to drive, handles nice and balance sweet. Bit 205/55/15 tyres on BBS alloys helps.

So glad I got her.

Welcome to BMWs!

Do you mean the headlamp height adjusters as adjusted from the rotary knob on the dash? If so, and it's the type with plastic pipes containing fluid so the adjustment is essentially hydraulic...I'm tempted to just say forget it! Not worth the hassle...poxy mechanism! I once tried a fix by inserting a very fine hypodermic needle into the tubing and injecting more fluid in and then sealing the tiny hole again with a hot-blade...seemed like a good idea that I was confident would work...it didn't!

Similarly, glovebox torch...not worth trying to fix. I tried that once as well. The rechargeable batteries have soldered on connections. By the time you've bothered to take the thing apart, wasted time and petrol searching to buy the right batteries, got your soldering iron out and then put it all back together again...you might just as well have bought a new one!

Headlamp adjusters failing is a common fault (think they seize), not sure of work to remedy though

Torch requires replacement, try ebay, but they fetch more than you think as they are always not working or missing!

I removed the hydralic adjusters on mine and simply replaced them with new manual ones from the dealers. Cheap and pretty easy to do, especially as my car actually passed the MOT once it was done
