e39 5 series seats
Discussion
Am currently searching for an e39 540i noticed a few ads say split fold rear seats.
Do all 5 series have folding rear seats and just a few have split fold or are some fixed and the seats cant be folded at all?
thinking of when i need to bring wood back from home base etc lol (god i'm getting old lol)

No - it's an optional extra on at least the saloons.
Might be mandatory on the Tourings, however.

I agree it's an optional extra worth looking out for.

the boot really isn't that big... my golf clubs just about fit in ... as long as you put them diagonally across the boot

Have you tried chucking them onto the back seat ?
Certainly things larger than the boot won't fit it.
I think we can all agree with that.
That said, I still think that there is class-leading room
in there.
One of my favourite tricks is to get folks to touch
the frontmost part of the boot [ i.e. at the bottom of the
rear of the back seats].
Most folks struggle.

No split rear seats on my 530d either - stumped me when I tried to pick up a chest of drawers at the weekend...
My 535 is the same. A potential pain in the bum. Trips to B&Q usually result in a car load carrying "test" (trees, handy bits of wood and general crap) along side the resident boot occupier the "buggy". Maybe I should have bought a touring?
