On the motorway today doing about 65mmph, when the warning comes on saying I have a flat tyre. Pull over no signs of a flat think? I carry on doing no more than 50 and take it to a dealer.

£250.00 for one tyre fitted!!!!!!!!!

Is this right I was a long way from home so had it done but £250 for a tyre!!!!!!!!!

So what is repairable and what is not on RFs... While having new tyres fitted to my 330 last week I asked the tyre fitter if RFs were repairable and he said no...

As I am thinking of changing to an E90 in the next few months this may make a difference as I seem to be unlucky and have 2 or 3 punctures a year...

They can be repaired in the same way as a standard non runflat tyre.
As long as you get it done asap-keep the mileage down and speed so that you save the tyre.
The repair needs to be away from the side wall and shoulder of the tyre.Obviously no repair to the side wall.
BMW dealers can repair them but it is frowned on so its upto the dealer. They stated to us that the tyre can be repaired by a proffesional volciniser-which if you are trained to use a repair kit and tyre machine makes you one..
When the tyre is removed the inner side wall will be inspected for damage but the majority are ok.
ATS,KWIK FIT etc should do this no problem

I have been told by my local ATS hat run flats are NOT repairable. I got rid of mine and got a slow puncture which they repaired. They told me that if i'd still had RFT then they wouldn't have repaired it. Seems to be different depending which tyre fitter you speak with.

Ditch the RFT's and put real tyres on. Car handles better, too!

I've been told that RF were not repairable too, subsequently I've been to a good independant tyre outfit (Supertyres in Maldon) who were happy to do a repair. The tread section of a RF tyre is fundamentally the same as any other it's the very stiff sidewall that is unique.

The only bit of info I can find to back it up is under www.bmw.co.za/products/runflat/faq question number 7

Most companies seem to be unsure looking on the web but BMW work with Mich, bridge, cont, dunflop and pirelli which would all have agreed before BMW launch a statement.

I will try and source more info
