Anyone reckon you could slide an M3 engine into an E28? I like the idea of the ultimate Q-car - 20 year old looks, with circa 300bhp...not sure which M3 engine would be most likely to fit, the 3.0 perhaps?

Why bother? scratchchin

Just buy an M5, pushes 286bhp out the box,and already an M Power Classic and with only 160 odd made values of a good one can only go one way

Engine is the 24v 3.5 litre Iconic M Power unit that power the M1 no less!

A good one will cost you upwards of £7k, but how much is it going to cost to modify a 'regular' E28 ?

Can't see why it wouldn't fit. They'll both fit in an E30, so logic dicates that they'll both fit in an E28. Personally i'd go for an S38 from the E34 M5 as everyone seems to want the M3 engines for various conversions, hence prices can be interesting.
