325i Chain or Belt ?

Hi all,
Nice useful forum
I have a quick question for you guys regarding my recent purchase of a 2000 BMW 325I. It has done 67,000 miles so I would expect it to be due a cam belt change (if its got one). I have searched the internet to try and find out weather or not it is chain or belt driven as I understand the chains do not need replacing.

Would be greatful for any help, to ease my concerns

Hi Jimbo,

I believe that the E46 uses chains. No belt change required.

Chain driven as far as I know.
Check www.realoem.com to be certain.

chain driven and its non servicable.
never had one fail

Many thanks guys, that eases my concerns. i was under the understanding that it was chain driven, just needed confirmation.
