Hello everybody. I have been driving my E90 since Oct. 2005. Too much early to realize the wide versatility of idrive (Navi Professional) in particular for what is related to Connected Drive. At that time I used to consider it only a cheap navigation system. Period. I ended by ordering a non-idrive E90. It is euphemistic to say that I regret now. I ain't going to get another car by exchanging the one I have. That would cost me 19,5K. But I am ready to retrofit my car with an after sale bmw idrive system if that is possible. Actually I have my doubts, since I didn't even choose the Navi Business when I bought it. My E90 has the Bmw Professional radio. What can you guys say about that? Just give me a little hope.

I'll let you know if theres a retrofit kit available for the Idrive..if there is,it wont be cheap as you only have Radio.
I dont think there is as it involves so much work but I shall check anyway

I would imagine that it is possible, but would cost a fortune. I'd guess £4k.

This has been discussed on another e90 forum and it would cost more than selling the car and getting the correct one. Far too much work to be viable.

If it is any consolation, I have idrive and whilst it is nice, the user interface does still suck. It seems to have been designed by engineers, not ergonomicists. It's also ponderously slow at navigating (edit: to clarify navigating around the UI, the nav system itself is pretty damned good!), although the nav display itself is very quick to update the perspective view etc.

As predicted there is no retro-the obvious reason is the shear cost involved.
For instance you will need a new dash, prof nav unit, screen,iDrive controller and so on.
It will easily pass the £4k mark in parts, then you would have to have the vehicle order changed via BMW technical to tell the vehicle it has a different system fitted.
It would be cheaper to buy another E90 with iDrive than fit iDrive to yours etc.
