Hi All,
I have a 96' 318 compact and have a problem with the wipers.

If i use the flick wipe it won't park and i have to physically stop it in the right place. There also is no intermittent, they just keep on going, then after a random time they will just stop pretty much anywhere they feel like, and you can't get them going again until you turn off the ign and back on again, then they will reset and go back to the park. I've only had the car for a few days so any help would be much appreciated.

Regards: Bart

Should also be able to clean and regrease the contacts unless they changed the design radically after the E30.

This link should explain, you only want the latter bits about the motor itself. You may get access denied though, as E30zone insisut you sign up to view things for some reason.

Those symptoms are for a faulty 'Park Contact' signal, every wipe action as the blades reach the park position the wiper motor signals an earth pulse to the ZKE [body electrics], if it does not see this signal they cannot park in the correct place and the ZKE unit assumes the wipers have been blocked [ice or snow] and switches off the wipers to stop the motor burning out.
Check the signal from the wiper motor[that is the most common cause]if that is ok check the continuity of the wire from motor to ZKE and make sure there are no short circuits.

Can you please tell me what and where the ZKE is.

Much appreciated.
