afternoon all.
my 540i seems to stutter a bit when its first driven cold, feels like it doesnt want to go forward in its usual smooth fashion. it only lasts about a minute and then its completely fine. any suggestions why this might be happening?

cheers nerf

Sounds like it could be something to do with the automatic choke.
I wouldn't think its anything to worry about, but cos you posted you obviously are. A bit of a perfectionist are we ? LOL

Strickly speaking a fuel injected car doesn't have an automatic choke. The ECU controls warm-up with aid of both the coolent temperature sensor (get this checked) and idle control valve!
