Hi

I have been looking for an AUC through a BMW Main Dealer.

I have been advised in the instance of a particular car being sold at a Main Dealer in Kent that BMW do not hold central records on servicing/bodywork repairs (Car in question is 2 and a half years old, and was orignally supplied and serviced by a Main Dealer in Leicester)

I have been advised that the car has had a few cosmetic items (wheel refurb, front bumber sprayed) - I wanted to review the records to see whether it had any more major bodywork repairs.

If anybody know's about how the BMW Computer Records work confused - I would appreciate it if they could let me know whether the records are centrally held, and the dealer should be able to access a full history for the vehicle?

Thanks

Larry

They don't hold service records centrally afaik. You should be able to get a printout from any dealer that has serviced/performed warranty work on the car. Ask for the AUC appraisal invoice, this should display the total cost that the dealership has incurred to bring a unit upto AUC standard.

I wanted to do a similar check on the M3I just bought and they couldn't give me a comprehensive service record (but you can ring every dealer in the service book to check what they did). However, BMW customer services could certainly tell me that the car had had the necessary recall work.

All dealers will hold the records for AUC cars. It's a requirement for the yearly QMA audits. Give the relevent dealers a call and they will be able to tell you exactly what the car had done.

I understood that if a BMW had been in an accident then it couldnt be sold through the AUC.

I don't know what sort of degree they take this to, but this is what I was lead to believe when I bought our Approved M3.

Not sure about that, the AUC check is basically a 124 point check plus any cosmetic work carried out to get up to standard and these standards seem to vary quite a lot between dealers, just depends how much the used car manager wants to spend whilst always maintaining a profit. As long as the cars look good for the once a year QMA audit thats well advertised in advance then for the rest of the year it can depend on what mood the sales managers are in.

thumbup I have spoken with the supplying/servicing dealers and they have advised in a bit more detail what works have been carried out and when - these all cross check with dates/details etc. advised by selling dealer. Nothing out of the ordinary.

It would also appear that the AUC works were only cosmetic to bring the car up to the Main Dealer's standards..

Thanks All...
