E34 5-series recall
Discussion
I think this only affects the last Tourings - it relates to E34s built after approx June 1995, so, as far as I know, doesn't cover any saloons.
Had the recall notice last week, had the work done today on my (1997 registered) Touring and it involved replacement of the steering column lock barrel. Apparently a cam in the barrel can potentially make the steering lock come on even with the key in.
If your car is registered correctly with DVLA then you should get a similar notification but if not, it's worth giving the nearest main dealer a call and checking whether you're affected. Costs nothing, and my car was washed and vacuumed, having not been cleaned since September

Thanks!
I'll get my wife to check her E34 Touring!
Just wished you posted this yesterday i.e before I washed hers for her which similarly probably hadn't been washed since September! Still, the interior is so filthy they'll probably baulk at doing that if she drops it off to our local dealer!
Cheers!
