Hello all,

I have a 1999 E46 323Ci coupe and to me the pedals have very little feel to them. The accelerator is very heavy and the clutch is lifeless, although there appears to be nothing wrong with its operation.

Can anything be done to liven them up a bit? I gather early E46s are generally thought to be a little dull. I also have an E36 325i coupe and this is much more fun to drive...

Thanks in advance for any hints or tips.

I've driven an E46 320d and a 330Ci Sport and the clutches on both of them felt too light and utterly dead. It felt almost as though if I pushed the clutch down a bit and took my foot off it would stay where I had pushed it to! I also felt that the clutch was too light and dead in an E90 325 that I tried. By contrast, the clutch on my E36 318is is heavier ands feels really meaty and lively. Perhaps BMW are trying to appeal less to enthusiast drivers these days?

Replace the throttle cable-it travels through 2 sharp angles which after time makes the cable go tight.Later they moved to drive by wire.
Clutch tends to be the diaphram starting to sieze-box out for that-they have a sacs clutch (self adjusting clutch)which needs special tools to reset them so dont try to remove it at home unless you can get one.
