E39 window down.... but not up

and i bet it rains!

the rear window went down all the way but wouldnt go up at all, plenty of 'clicks' and noises coming from the door when i press the button up but it doesnt move... any suggestions on where to start gratefully received.. preferably before it rains!

Window regulator is broken.......common occurrence on the E46 (they are made of plastic...), not sure about e39. You should be able to push it back up into place for a bit of security overnight.
