It says in the hand book you can programme the key/fob to open the doors in different sequence ie, just driver with one press and all with 2 presses etc. We've tried what it says, but scrolling through the dash display, it dosn't show the "key mode". It's a 320es, are all model supposed to do it????

it could be model specific I guess.

I think our 318i M Sport has a picture of a key if you scroll through the menu when the car is stationery.

The key functions are programmed by the dealer, i think they charge bout £20 for the privilige, for mine holding down the unlock opens all the windows (e46 shape).
Best bet is to mention it at the next service and hope they forget to charge you for it!

On the E60,E61,E87,E90,E91 the Car/Key memory functions are given to the customer to program as they wish. Its called personal profile.
E46,E39,E85,E38 etc are in dealer only setting-drive away locking, selective locking etc.

However when the E87,E90 first came out the software level on the vehicle didnt have any of these features or very little-In this case the vehicle software needs to be updated.

Sorry thats the BMW name for the series...E87=1 series,E90/91=3 series(new),E60=5 series

If you have idrive/sreen then the function are done via that(press the controler down this takes you into vehicle settings.
Otherwise it is done using the knowled wheel on the indicator stalk-ign position 2-scroll to vehicle settings-selective unlock etc

This is what we've tried but it only selects the, check, date and time. Unless we've got the "ign position 2" wrong. We just put the fob in the slot and pushed it in as if we are going to start the car, but have'nt pushed the start button.?????????

push the button to start but dont put your foot on the clutch/brake pedal, you dont want it start-all the dash light should light up various orange and red(DSC,EML,engine, airbag etc). This should let you into all the other options.
