Hi Ross,

The same thing happened to the standard mirrors on my Coupe . I had the base plates replaced. I am pretty sure the sports mirrors are the same so yes you should quite easily be able to paint/replace yours.

The same thing is happening to my E36 Compact's mirrors as well so I am about to replace with AC Schnitzer items with new base plates.

i thought about putting acs mirrors on mine but then i thought i will just keep it standard and get a kitcar to do modifications to and do trackday in and keep the sport as my comfortable car

Good idea Ross. I have kept my 318is Coupe standard but soon after purchasing the Compact I realised I had to address the far too soft standard SE suspension, which then meant I had to change the standard 15" wheels as i could feel the side walls were struggling with the stiffer suspension set-up and so it went on from there...
