No...I don't think it's worth it for the performance. BUT BMW big coupes have always been vastly more expensive than their counterpart saloon.

I once simultaneously owned a E9 3.0CS and E3 3.0S...the 'S' was actually even a better car to drive...but it didn't cost anything like the 'CS' new and it was never worth anywhere near as much secondhand.

What is it with these straight line races? They really don't tell you much about the car.

What, is the willie waving competition not all about who can get to 100 the fastest?

hehe

Completely agree though - its about the car not the straight line speed. The important parts are feeling as one with the car, communication and connected'ness and a bit of performance. Anyone can make a crap car go fast in a straight line - see the recent 3-wheeler drag car on the UK circuit..... hopeless around corners, but goes quick though....

No i'd say it's not worth it if buying new but there are alot of low mileage demo cars around the 58-62k mark making them the same price as an M5 and at this price level I would say that the M6 would be a better bet if you don't need the practicality of a 4 door

M6 is definitely worth the extra dosh as it's the first 6 to sport the M badge since the M-635csi & there are loads of M5's around. also the 6 handles better I reckon due to it being slightly wider than the 5 but if you live down country lanes this might not be too practical.
