During the last heavy bout of rain, I noticed I had a drip develop at the front passenger side of my roof. Rang the local dealer and enquired about a roof seal. He said he thinks it needs a new cowl gasket plus the two side fillers. Anyone heard of this before? irked

Try an application of 'Ghumiphledge', available from your local BMW garage, applied to the seals to clean and soften them. Might work and save you a load of money.

I'd get an opinion from an indie as it may be possible to adjust the hood if the gunk doesn't sort it.

Funnily enough I called at another local BMW dealer this afternoon and he had a look, messed about at the front of both sides of the hood and thinks he's solved the problem.

Hope so!

Im the convertable king at our BM dealer-the only poor sod thats aloud to fix water ingress on the range....thats what you get for coming from a TVR back ground!

The cure for the roofs on E36/5 is mainly patients and moving the seals around until they sit in a good postion, then all i tend to fit is the in fills(tiny wedges that sit under the cowl seal on the corner to lift it up)

Thank you for that.

Still got the problem. As it's pi$$ed down all day, I had the chance to test it. Still got little dropless appearing in the same place.

If at first you don't succeed.....

when you open the roof-look at the windscreen cowl seal in either corner(at the top).
Is there a crease in the rubber,if there is this is where the water finds its way in-it will need the seal and the wedges.
