Any BMW techies here per chance? 1 series electrical issue..
Discussion
Bit of a strange one this..
Rear wash wipe stopped working. No wipe, no water spray, no weird noises. Nothing. I checked the fuse, and its fine (Fuse box lid now broken though!).
But also, there is a seemingly unrelated problem when locking the car. The lights no longer flash to confirm the locking. Yet they do flash when unlocking.
Both issues appeared at the same time..
Any tips clues and suggestion before I go try my luck with the local dealer will be appreciated

Can teh locking be reconfigured through the dashboard options?

It can't be out of the 3 year warranty yet can it ?
Fortuntaely you can leave it to your dealer to resolve.

Indeed.. Its just over 2 years old. But I figured I would ask here incase it was something silly or a known problem.

Im not sure thats possible on a 1? I'll have another rummage about in the manual though.. Looks like a dealer techie needs to poke around the car regardless though.
Cheers, P

As I recall there were some options relating to the locking in the menu system, but I always found it an arse to operate (much like the rest of the car unfortunately).

The locking features can be changed via the personal profile(see your handbook)But this is dependant on the software level of the vehicle and how old it is.you will need to go to a dealer to check this.
The wipers we have had a few probs with the SZL which is your wiper stalk (theres a control unit there which you cant see.
Do'es your PDC work?has there been any odd things in the instrument cluster going on (random flashes)
I have had a few issues with water ingress to the rear of the vehicle where the PDC control unit sits in water-this sends spikes to other control units.
Best to pop to your dealer, may need to book it in for 1-2 days

Sorry for the delay in reply.. But thanks for the suggestions in the mean time.
I got it sorted out a couple of days ago, as the car was due a service anyway.
The rear wiper and locking issues turned out not to be any kind of a hardware failure at all. But for whatever reason the cars computer simply forgot it had a rear wiper at all. So the cars software was re-loaded, or whatever it is that they do. And everything now works as it should.
