Can someone tell me what DMS can do with an X5 Diesel.

I believe the output of the engine is 218 bhp, so what could be expected from a trip to DMS?

Hello

I've got these information from Mike Cooper of DMS (for a friend's X5): "If it was new in February 05 then it will be the ‘facelift’ model with as standard the 218 BHP engine. We take to 270 BHP and increase torque to 575 Nm. Cost £795."

Hope this helps!

Hi Thomas, Thanks for that. The car is an 06 model year so yes it is the 218 bhp version.

Hi Catherine
From my point of view, DMS is the best! Had my 535d done in September 2006 and I'm still everyday impressed! This is a dream-car now! Go for it!

£795 that's a lot. i'm told other people will do the same for less, hope to find out soon.

With the same result, the same quality and the same reliability?

so i'm told, i've remapped 4 cars previous, each by different companies and had great results, with no reliability problems. i'm not saying dms are not the best just that it's pricey and worth asking around imho.

Your right! But I compared the DMS-price with the price of an upgrade done by a serious Swiss tuner. And I saw, that the DMS price is ok. And they sent an engineer over to Switzerland only for my 535d: that's good service, right?

that's great service. how can they afford to do that??

in the uk there are hundreds of tuners doing remaps, i'm sure some bad ones. but plenty have lots of experience and dyno's to prove the products. the prices vary a lot but i know good products are available for good prices with back up and warranty.
i have never used dms to be honest i know there reputation is sound, but other companies have given me great results and excellent service, i just say ring and ask around first.

I run a 'Tunit' box on my better half's 3.0d X5 - I fitted it myself - it just goes inline with the diesel rail. The good thing about a Tunit unit is 1) you can completly remove it without trace (think warranty/services..) 2) Is adjustable (5 steps - max power/torque vs lag/response and 3) When you sell the car you can take it off and resell it on .. ! Can't do any of those with a DMS remap

Increases on a 216 bhp motor is to 260 bhp/545Nm .. (close to DMS I think..)

Oh - and the best bit - £480 incl VAT ...

i'm considering one of those too. i see digital? boxes are available now, supposed to be the latest technology not just resistors. i owned a merc van a while ago with a switchable tuning box fitted, you could turn it on when required, nice idea, worked well.

My pre-facelift X5 has a remap by www.e-maps.co.uk.

Think it cost the previous owner around £400, but I would happily pay that to them on my next diesel.....
