Just spoke to DMS about what they could potentially do with the new 3.0 Twin Turbo engine that is in the 335i. Apparantly the sofware is proving to be a right 'b*****d' to crack but they think they'll be able to publish something in the next 3 weeks.

Off the record I was quoted 60-70 bhp improvement!!!! That should take the 0-62 down to about 5 dead by my reckoning.

They have until early next year to perfect it from my perspective..

do you have a 335i already or intending to buy?

Very likely to be my next car, especially if DMS can take it upto about 370bhp.

that sounds very interesting - I am having a test drive this weekend.

I am also down for the new M3, could a DMS 335 be a viable alternative?

I'd keep it standard, it'll be quick enough!

Got 335i 4 weeks, easily one of the best cars about at the moment, already done 1500 miles. So smooth and lovely to drive. It is heaven after 4 years in 996 targa.

I doubt the 335i with any amount of chipping will ever be an alternative to an M developed V8! You might get the same power and torque but you won't have that V8 sound track and n/a power delivery.

Apart from the engine, the lack of LSD and special M chassis mods will keep a comfortable distance between the two. Just like the E46 330 was never a real alternative to the e46 M3. (unless you want to tool about on the motroway all day long....)

With all due respect DinoD, I dont think people who buy 335i want this car to be an alternate to M3. I am sure they can afford to buy M3 if wanted, but chosen not to! 335i actually gives you best of both worlds, performance and usability!

Isn't that what an M3 delivers?

We've been doing some development work on the 335, by adding a full Milltek exhaust we've already added 20bhp! I'll post the charts up on Monday if you like.

agree with most of the posts here - not sure I "tool" around the motorways but I do spend a lot of time there! Thats why I have a 330 over the M3 at the moment - if I was doing less business miles then it would have to be the M3.
