Z4 Prices Announced

BMW dishes out the facts for the UK launch

BMW Great Britain has announced final pricing, specifications and options for the forthcoming BMW Z4 roadster. Available with 2.5i and 3.0i-litre six cylinder engines, the new car will be priced at £26,650 and £30,850 respectively.

The 3.0i features the well respected six cylinder engine, delivering 231bhp. This powers the car to 62 mph from standstill in 5.9 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155 mph. The 2.5i delivers 192 bhp taking 7 seconds to reach 62mph and it runs out of puff at 146 mph.

Z4 customers can benefit from some fancy options. Available in two specifications – Business and Professional – navigation systems feature on the BMW roadster for the first time. On the Professional system, an 8.8 inch (22.5 cm) monitor flips up from the top of the dashboard, with the screen also doubling as a television if specified (the Business system is integrated into the dashboard facia).

Music lovers will have the option of a six CD unit mounted between the seats or a dash-mounted MiniDisc player. Sound can be delivered through the standard six-speaker system or a choice of two optional 10 speaker Hi-Fi systems.

Preparation for a Bluetooth telephone can also be specified allowing hands-free phones to be used.

The Z4 will be launched in the UK in June.

I must say having read this piece, the thought of Business and Professional options is really causing movement in my loins, so much so in fact i will have to dump my boring bland unimaginative TVR for one of these exciting bling bling wunderwagons.

BMW really know how to strip even the smallest amount of interest from their cars.

Business and Professional my arse.

Agree, head on view is not good. But not bad from the side. See lots of them over here in the US. Keep thinking about taking one for a test drive, but I just can't stand the salesmen here in the US.

bling bling wunderwagons.

obviously aimed at the 'so solid crew' type wannabee gangsters with more money than sense(the sort that try to drive audi tt's).

its an ugly looking thing.....like most new bmw's,they have no style and are designed by guys who like drawing straight lines.

i personally think the e-30(1983-1994) was the last of the 'good looking' bmw's and they have got more like euroboxes ever since.

sorry if that gets on the whicks of e-36 drivers.

Uh-Oh - looks like I'm going to be controversial here!

My job takes me to a lot of the world's best motor shows and I consider myself a bit of a styling fanatic. Also I have a griff which I love and have hated the "clowns shoe" Z3 since its birth.

But I was at the launch of the Z4 in Paris and in the flesh I thought it looked fabulous! I couldn't believe it myself (honestly!) but the bold cut lines down the side, the detailing like the side directional repeater behing the badge, and the way it seems to squat down at the rear make it a really brave move in a world of convertibles trying to look like Lotus Elans!

Alright, I'm *never* going to swap my TVR for one but at least it shows some boldness eh?

anyone?

Oh. Just me then ...
