Having a problem with my 530D touring its a 2002 model.

The problem is under light braking if a front wheel hits a pot hole it starts a very worrying shake which i think is coming from the front wheels although the steering wheel does not shake violently i can just sense it through the wheel. The shake last a second or two

I mentioned it to the guy at the MOT station and he said the front dampers appear worn out, so i have changed them and although it is slightly better it still does it.

I am worried about loosing control this winter as it has brought in the ABS a couple of times.

Any ideas

Suspension bushes or anti roll bar bushes maybe?

check the lower arm front compliance bushes-one may have failed(hydrolic filled).
ball joints on the hub may have play.
Have had a few cases of the engine mounts failng and becoming too soft.

will look at the lower arm... it has passed an MOT so i am guessing there are no loose ball joints...
