Hi - new to forum, hope I have posted this in the right place.
I cannot start my BMW 328i Conv. I accidentally set the alarm off by opening the door when it was armed, and then cancelled it. Drove home, parked in garage and switched off engine, set alarm. That was it, now it wont start - it cranks fine but absolutely no smell of gas. No fuses blown, fuel pump fuse double-checked.
This alarm idea may be a big red-herring, but if all fuses fine and no sign of other problems, I am not sure what it might be. All fine when it was put to bed.
I reckon that the immobiliser hasn't disengaged? Any ideas? Many thanks.

Thanks naetype:
- working on the premise it was the immobiliser, I tried various combinations of locking doors/setting alarm/triggering alarm etc, didnt work.
Eventually the trick that solved it was setting the alarm from within the car (!) and trying to start the engine with alarm armed. This obviously triggered it, so I disarmed and tried engine again. Presto: Things went round and round. (openning door would probably have achieved the state)
So I guess the immobiliser got out of sync and its underwear in a twist when I originally opened the door when it was armed.
It wasn't a wiring thang this time but you were right - it was where to go next. Thanks again
