Somehow just haven't seemed to get around to doing a page on my website for my 840Ci Sport until now...juts keep getting distracted by other things!

But anyway, here it is (WARNING: The slideshow is long!)

www.bmwclassics.co.uk/features/index.html

(Please click on the car to access the page)

Thanks to Jud Spencer at the E31 Registry for supplying the build details.

thumbup Attention to detail Over and above the call of duty!

Never realised that the throwing star alloys were made up like they are

What sort of money does a respray to your exacting standards cost?

Lovely car..... keep on buying them!!!! only critism I can make is the cheapish cherished number doesnt do the car justice

Yeah...I've been thinking about the number plate myself. It was already on the car when I bought it...I've never had a personalised plate myself. The car is really an 'S-Reg'. Apparently, the plate is worth over a grand (had a quote)...apparently it's quite an old N.I plate?

Anyway, resprays?...cost?...well let's just nearly 'double' when you insist on having it done twice for something most average people wouldn't even notice! A long story which I'm trying to forget about...please don't remind me

Yes, that's how the Throwing Stars go together. Another reason why one often sees pics of cars with them the wrong way round.

For the 'seriously sad' (like me!) there is of course the definitive 'Throwing Star Guide':

They can be a bit of nightmare to get apart for refurbishing because of the fine splined bolts on the back. Also the place I use has struggled a little with air-bubbles in the final lacquer just on the stars themselves...I reckon it's due to the metal they're made out of getting a bit hot when the lacquer is baked on. Took them three goes to get the ones on the car in the link perfect. I have another fully refurb'd set sitting in the garage...these have some of the tiny bubbles...again probably no one would really notice once on a car...

Forgot to say...they're now pretty rare and sell for a small fortune! Check out how much these guys are selling a set...but they don't even have the throwing stars...and that's the really expensive bit!
