Having spent the last 2 hours listening to my Satnav player try and read the disc with v.27 on it, i finally gave up and aborted the upgrade. So now i have probably totally ballsed up the operating system, as the screen just shows static and what's more, i can't get my CD out of the drive!

Anyone any ideas how to remove said CD?

Disconnect the DVD power maybe?

I feel the stealers looming...

This happened to me a few years ago. Going away and leaving it for a few hours did the job.

If that does not work try disconnecting and reconnecting the power plug at the back and hitting the eject button as it comes back to life, if you are lucky it will come out, if not its a new unit

i did some digging about on x5world and someone suggested just keep pressing the eject button, although this can take several minutes it did work in the end for me. Certainly better than trying to get to the back of the DVD player.

In the end i purchased 2006 maps and v28 upgrade for £25, which is great as i now have perspective view, Speed cameras and post code entry.

Where did you get it from as I've always thought that adding speed camera locations as points of interest on the OEM nav unit makes sense and avoids the need for secondary 'accident black spot' gadgetry.

I had a map disc stuck in a MK111 system, tried all the suggestions, none of which worked.

In the end I cut a six inch length of wire coat hanger and used a pair of pliers to create a small "L" shape at one end. Using a torch I was able to open the flap and spotted that when pressing eject there was a small lever (above the disc and to the right)which wasn't lifting, using the wire from the coat hanger it was easy to push it out of the way when pressing eject and out came the disc.

It's worked ever since, so it must have been having an off day...
