Hi all, does anyone know anything about the SELOC BMW series?

I quite fancy having a go at racing, and seems a reasonably cheap way of getting started.

I know I'd need my race licence (and a car), is it pretty cheap to get the car prep'd for the series?

Final thought - can you get a towbar fitted to an E36 M3 saloon, and does it make a decent tow car?

Cheers!

Yep I race my E30 320i Touring in the series.

This was my first year racing and it was a steep learning curve. Forgetting to do my bonnet pins up in qualifying in my first race at Combe was the low point rolleyes but qualifying 16th out of 32 in my last race at Snetterton was great thumbup

Best advice is to check out the SELOC website which details this years regs - they are changing slightly for next year - and also the forums where every possible question has been asked before. A few of us are doing a trackday at Donington 17th December and there will be 4 or 5 of the cars there so might be good if you wanted to check the cars over.

The racing is very tight as the engine mods are very limited and with 52 registered drivers this year we pretty much had full grids at every race - Brands was oversubscribed.

The racing is close and competitive but the atmosphere in the paddock is great and the PBMWC lads are a good bunch.

Mail me if you want any further info or check out the vid clips on my profile - it rained at every race I drove this year so plenty of spinning / sliding action

Finally unless your E36 is a Touring with a big torquey engine I wouldn't advise towing with it. You might find an E30 racecar and trailer are over the towing capacities of the E36
