Well I just did a deal with a friend who had a 97' 750iL which was sat in his compound for over a year untouched. It was recovered as the last owner had also left it in his drive untouched, and the DVLA records show it as being un-taxed for three years. It has moss on the windows, and looks in a sad state of array for such a top end model.

So; we had no keys

We had to get it registered first to get a key from BMW (with a whole host of paperwork!)

The battery was knackered.. naturally

The new key needed to be coded - actually quite simple - found the info on the net and done with three clicks!

New battery on, ignition turned on, steering wheel and seats went into their correct position and cranked her over...

Started first time yikes on one bank first then both. Stopped it, checked the fluids again, then ran it until warm.

Absolutely amazed bounce

It appears to be fully loaded with sat-nav, tv, car-phone and fax on the back window! cool

Will post some pics if I can get some tomorrow. I thought it was a bloody good for a car which hasn't seen action for four years!

I had an '89 E32 750iL and it was great. Just ignore the mpg and focus on the power

You think? hehe

From what I understand, stop-start city traffic you will get single figures. As for a run, well I am lead to believe that 20+MPG is a distance memory.... boot it and a chap I know swore he could see the fuel gauge move.... hehe

BUT - as commented - smooth unrelenting power.... impressive stuff.

Will do, but I'm rather smitten with it at the moment. This is my seventh seven series - I love these luxo barges Sadly I won't be able to play with again until the weekend.

- smooth unrelenting power.... yes please!

My insurance company is going to love me, although the addional car policy has come to £654 with business use, so I'm rather pleased with that

Shame there's no room under the bonnet for a pair of turbo's
