E60 M5 badged as //Motorsport?
Discussion
I saw something similar (silver, Ford-alike typeface) on the back of a base Saab 93 saloon the other day. Strange isn't it.
Although what a Saab has to do motorsport I don't know, when was the last time they went racing? I can't remember it in my lifetime!

Sure it was an M5? It's a bit sad if someone feels the need to do that to one already. What next? Lexus lights?
It had the wheels, zorst and rear valance so I'm assuming it was. It's just started parking at my gym so I'll try and ask him (or humiliate him if it's just a badge!) if I find out who he is.

Assuming of course he isn't some massive steroid crazed thug.
There are two major giveaways of a clone E60 M5.
Firstly, the real deal has different mirrors (pointed with a black underside rather than square).
Secondly, the front bumper on the real thing is a one-piece item, whereas the clones seem to be two-piece. This is most obvious result is that the clones have a horizontal seam running along either end of the bumper, about halfway up.
Oh yeah, the real ones have the silver vents in the front wings too.

As well as massive drilled brakes, side vents on fenders (although a saw 550i with the real looking vents in the side...), and if you can sneek a peek inside, smg gearshifter, headup display which looks like a big hole ahead of the instrument binnacle(alyhough this optional on all models).
But the one you can't spec as an option is the 8k redline on the revcounter and that unmistakable sound when it pulls away (but at idle from the front you might think itwas a diesel but from the rear you'll know its the v10)

E60 M5's have NO FRONT FOG LIGHTS. Easy way to tell from the sport-kitted 525d's.

The real ones have a vertical surface to the panel around the rear license plate whereas the imitation ones are angled.
Really? They have a different boot lid? I hadn't noticed that.Yes. Even the Alpina B5 (based on the 545) has the wide non-M "angled" bezel around the plate.

I saw an M3 in Headington (Oxford) on Sunday with 318Ci on the boot instead of the M3 badge. Anyone who knows what 318Ci stands for is going to know that its not a 318Ci.
Was that a grey M3CSL by any chance as I believe someone on here has a great sense of humour and badged his CSL as 318i...how anyone who is vaguely interested in cars will ever mistalke a csl for 318 I don't know...
