E30 325i gearbox

MY E30 325i gearbox is baulking changing down into second.

I guess it needs a new syncro.

Is this a DIY thing or am i going to get myself in a mess ?

Haynes manual is silent on gearbox repairs !

Probably simpler ...and cheaper to buy a second hand box

That's because the E30 haynes manual is useless, even by haynes standards (whoever tought it would be a good idea to combine it with the E34 needs shooting).

As the man says, it'll probably be easier to just swap out with another box. There's plenty of standard 325 boxes kicking about due to the poluparity of the Sport box, and the general nature of the E30 to fall to bits around its mechanicals.

Sadly, this IS a second hand box i got out of a tourer.

Cos of their age they all seam to be painful.

The car is used for rallying so i really need a new syncro
