e46 Volume Knob Stuck-help!!

The volume knob on my 'Business' head unit has been a little loose for a while. But now it has 'collapsed'.
When i pushed it in to turn off the radio the knob just went in and stayed in. Luckily the radio didn't switch off but know I can't turn it off. I can adjust volume fine but just can't do on/off by pushing the knob.
I assum I have to pull the radio out to fix this...??
