I know this is probably old news now, but my mum and dad have a 2.0 Z3 (6 cylinder) and it hads developed a bad misfire.

I have read quite a bit about the nikasil liners and corrosion, but does this effect the 2.0 engines too as I have mostly read about the 2.8's and not the 2 litres. It is a M52TUB20 engines, so it is a M52 which were supposed to be nikasil lined so any help would be greatly aprreciated.

Thanks

Alex

Could be the crank sensor, throttle position sensor or a coil/plug problem, any of which a decent local indie will be able to diagnose quickly.

When does the misfire happen anyway? When cold, under load, revving in neutral, low revs or high revs?

Low revs under load, however it wouldnt start the other morning which is the first time it has ever done that, it was also running on 5 cylinders until it got warm when we did get it started.

Was thinking this could maybe been becuase of low compression in one of the cylinders due to the nikasil issue.

Definitely nothing to do with Nikasil as this only affected early 2.8 M52 engines.

Sounds like plug/coil.
