I have been given a 530d with a media pack whilst my car is in for a service. As I'm thinking of moving to a 5 next year I wanrt to make sure I can actually use it!
One of the worst things about my 04 320cd is the bluetooth prep, in that it is pants! So I want to ensure that the new one is better.
I have paired the phone (Sony Ericsson m600i) with the car and whilst they pair ok, the car then fails to pick it up..

Any suggestions? (I don't have another phone here to try today)

Initial impressions of the car are very good. I might be able to put off haveing a 535 for a little bit

I just connected my phone (Nokia 6230i) via the Communications sub-menu under the settings menu in iDrive and it has connected automatically ever since.

I did all that I suspect it is the phone being overly clever.

Trying to work out how I can get hold of the £45k or so to buy one now...

I'm afraid it looks like your phone isn't compatible with the cars bluetooth (great open standard eh?). Check here for compatibility. As you will see, you'll also need to check the firmware on the phone too.

I also have a 6230i, which is absolutely fine with the car.

Hope this helps.

There is talk over on bm3w of certain phones, particularly S-E ones needing to have the inbox cleared in order to function properly.

What Zod says is spot on. All phones in my family start messing around when the SMS inbox is congested but not necessarily full.

Try deleting a load of old SMS's and see whether it starts to behave.

Anyone have a Nokia 6233 or 6280 that works fine? My current phone doesn't have bluetooth but the car has and haven't got round to upgrading!
