Autocar tested one last week against the Cayman and the 335i did very well indeed. The comment they made about the coupe was that it was as quick in every day driving as an M3 (Or words to that effect).
The trouble with the 'everyday driving' phrase is that on the street, a 330d (320d?) is as quick as a V10 M5 in 'everyday driving'.
I know exactly what they mean, my last car was a remapped 535d, which during the usual course of events stayed with just about anything that had a go, on the road i mean.
But something like this M3 CSL does it's thing less often, but when it does it is mucho fun.

If you mean stuck in a traffic jam at 5mph then the 330d or 320d may be as quick as the E60 M5, but if everyday driving includes anything other than stop start traffic jams then i think not.

They generally mean your drive to work, the trip to the diy store, most journeys are made at (somewhere close to) legal speeds and the latest mid-range cars, like my mapped 535d for example, are quick enough to keep up with theoretically faster cars during normal street use.
