Z4 M Are they any good?
Discussion
Hi Zod, I've just found this www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=72&t=217289&h=0 thead. Mixed opinions when it came out, but nobody seems to have one. When we bought the S4 a couple of years ago we needed the, 4 door saloon thing, but my wife now has a company car (BMW) so could go for somthing a little less practical. John.
I have one. Are you refering to the Roadster or coupe? Either way it will not surprise you to know that the engine makes this car, not quite as fluid as the Boxster I drove but far more involving. Check out z4rum.com for (slightly biased) opinions! There don't seem to be many around and used prices are dropping quite quickly, the aformentioned site has a club members for sale at £33500! Worth a test drive.

The engine is fantastic. People who have them love them. There is a Z4M section at bm3w.co.uk where you could get some expert views.Top Gear said:

Ive got one, cant compare it to an S4 however I ahve had plenty of TVRs in the past.
Its not as kick in the back fast initially as a Griff, in fact it feels more like a speed six cerb I used to have. No surprise really as the are both straight sixes of similar weight. I think the depreciation will make them a good buy in a short while ( I bought mine new through the business) I cant compare to boxter etc as I have never had a real desitre to own one.
Go to youtube and search for the hammond road test from top gear and also the one from fifth gear where jason plato drove one through germany.
I like the holligan element of the power with the reinement if required to drive around town. I also totally creamed a Z4 3.0 the other day, its that much quicker!
by the way the one in my profile is the 2.5 my wife and I used to have. Our new roadster is Interlagos blue.

Bretheren,
I have had my Z4M Roadster now for five months. I initially found it a "joyous" sporty car to drive. More recently I have discovered the Sport Button and what happens when you keep the engine between 5000 and 8000rpm whilst driving around the parish administering the faith. Holy Commolly. It transforms into a totally involving true SPORTS car. Do njot be afraid of revving that engine (after running of course and a word of advice on running....don't be too gentle, seriously)
I found a track day with some tuition a must and built confidence to where you can push the beast which would be danergous to initial explor on a public road. For me, I would have this car anyday, a car that challenges you and delivers rather than the Porche Boster S et al that feels like its on autopilot.
Keep the faith and keep the revs up.
