I'm about to order a Z4 coupe and have a few questions...
I want to replace the runflat tyres with normal tyres. Any suggestions for which tyres? I know Michelin PS2's get a good rap generally, but I thought there might be another tyre that people have found to be particularly good with Z4's - it's amazing how different a specific tyre can feel on different cars. Any help appreciated!

I'm not going for the M sports suspension option on the basis that the standard suspension is firm enough, but perhaps with normal tyres instead of runflats then the M sports will be the way to go. Any thoughts?

Any suggestions on where to get the best deal price-wise? I've found a BMW dealer that offers a £2,200 discount on new Z4's - should I be able to get better than this?

Thanks for any help!
William

Not sure about the tyres but that deal sounds very good. Is that £2,200 off a 3.0si coupe?

Michelin PS2s feel awesome on my Z4M Coupe, it's hard to imagine a tyre that would suit it better.

Yes, that's £2.2K off with December delivery.

DoctorD, has your Z4 coupe got the M sports suspension?

Thanks,
William

It's on a 3.0si (not Sports)

oops! Didn't notice it was a Z4M! Do you think the "M sports" option on the 3.0si is the same suspension as on the Z4M? I'd doubt it somehow...

I picked mine up last Saturday and done about 700 miles so far. Its the Si SE spec (black with red leather). First impressions are very good indeed. And it turns heads like you wouldn't believe. Parked it in central Oxford today and got back to find a chap taking photos of it...

I'm rather glad I went with the "non-Sport" suspension though. I guess it depends what sort of driving you'll be doing and whether you want to use it for track days, but rubbish British road surfaces were a key concern of mine. The standard suspension is plenty firm enough, in my opinion.

One thing to bear in mind, though, is that the non-Sport suspension rides a touch higher than the Sport stuff, which means it's definitely worth going for the 18 inch wheels (rather than standard 17s) to fill the spaces better.

And the run flats will be changed in the next few months. No complaints about the grip, but the tendancy to tram-line has to be experienced to be believed.

Yup, runflats tramline quite a lot - aiming to get ours replaced with either P Zero's or Pilot sports once necessary. Ours is the 3.0si Sport, although its not the same setup as the Z4CoupeM. Great car, turns heads more than you'd ever expect (as mentioned by others).

Thanks for all this info - very interesting. Is yours jet black or mettallic black?. If metallic black, is it still as black as jet black, or does it have a definite colour tint like the ruby black metallic?
I want to use mine for both B roads and quite a few track days, plus visits to the Nurburgring, so I'm not sure whether to go for the sports suspension - perhaps normal tyres with sports suspension will be supple enough? Mind you, after my last car, a 911 GT3, anything else feels quite soft!
The magazine reviews I've read say that the standard 17" wheels are good - won't fitting 18" wheels make the ride and tramlining worse?

Mine's metallic - Sapphire Black I think it's called. It does have a slight "hue" but I haven't quite worked out what it is yet. Under some lights it looks slightly yellow/bronze and under others it looks a touch blue.

You might be right about the 18s tramlining more than the 17s. I guess its just a case of finding a package that suits you best, but inevitably there'll be a looks/performance/comfort trade-off somewhere.

And although mine is the SE spec, I opted for the M-Sport seats which hold you in place very well indeed. Definitely worth the money if you decide to go for the SE.

Magnificent car... get one!!

Try www.drivethedeal.co.uk - the better half is looking for a new 5-series at present and they came up with very aggressive prices for new UK dealer sourced cars!
