The butler's new hyper oil burner...
Discussion
The boy Reggie, custodian of a venerable 'superchipped' 330d saloon is about to make the jump to unfeasible schnell with the new 335d coupe.
He reckons his existing pounder already "substantially quicker" than a boggo 535d so what this could do c/o the latest uprated shift speeds and lower mass to convey, we shall see.
Whatever, I grimace at the probablity of being smoked by the staff.
Ruddy cheek!

Yes it is true - cancelled the test drive of the Cayman S after seeing the new coupe in the flesh and my concern that 25k miles a year would be too much for me to run the Porsche.
Daz - I review the need for chipping after I've run the beast in. Only ordering it later today.
As DeR mentioned - drove a 535d last week (standard spec) and whilst fab and quick - my supperchipped 245bhp 330d felt much more rapid - don't know if it is the lesser weight coming into equation or the torque (c 500nM) that mine delivers, but I left the garage dissappointed. Also, the 5 series felt very grown up and sensible and for those of you that know me - that will never be the case.
As for selling it Vee - I'll see what BMW offer as p/x - it is black with leather, auto, xenons, Pioneer CD & subwoofer in the boot - however - it is on 57k miles, which will be nearer 60k by the time the coupe arrives on these shores. Drop me a note through myu profile if you are still interested and we'll talk off line.
Anyway, what's wrong with the Butler trying to keep up with the boss - that's the spirit of our once great nation.

Trying but ultimately, dutifully accepting their miserable role in the scheme of things and being quicker about it than they were answering the door!
Baaargh!

Know the feeling. I just don't feel old enough to leave 3-dom yet and I've only got 6 months left of beginning with '3' myself.

Anyway, you boys are obviously enjoying far too much success in life. Now, what was that bloke telling me about the 1080-capable 46" Bravia.... wait til it's about half its current price probably!

After a week or so in a 335i SE Coupe, I'm now driving a 335d M Sport Touring (SWMBO decided she preferred the coupe, so we swapped cars).
I haven't driven the diesel far enough yet to make a meaningful comparison, but initial impressions are that the petrol engined car feels significantly quicker than the diesel. That surprised me so I looked up the figures:
335i Coupe: 306 bhp, 400Nm torque, 1600kg, 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds
335d Touring: 286 bhp, 580Nm torque
, 1720kg, 0-62 in 6.3 seconds.
Unfortunately they didn't have 50-70mph figures which I think are more meaningful than the 0-60.
Both cars are auto box. The torque should make acceleration in the D feel at least as quick if not better than the petrol. The only thing I can think of is that the D needs to loosen up a little.
Both fabulous cars, but I have to say the coupe feels far, far more special.

You've put a smile on my face, as I've just returned from the dealer with order form in hand. I will probably last less than 6 months and get it chipped to resolve any threat of being beaten by anything but an M3

Apologises oh master - how silly of me!
Reg,
In one of the Beemer specialist monthlies somebody's running a 330i Touring in (I think) Interlagos blue with some hugely fetching, black, 19" Schnitzer wheels.
The whole ensemble is massively agreeable - I think you should.
(Sure you can't be prised away this Sunday? Might persuade Mrs Perkins to save you a crusty bun after the mighty have retired.)

your right have asked ? on other threads to find general opinion but was told that PH's was full of top info and some nerds thanks for proof
Go ahead and order it. Someone on here managed to get a signifcant £discount by buying the saloon version rather than the coupe so that is also worth considering.

Tried the 335i the other day and it was fantastic, and felt nicer than the saloon, but I can't really describe the difference just a feeling. (Actualy it may be the seats). Been out for a passenger run in the d and the torque was more noticable but the petrol was far smoother and just the slight lack of torque wasn't realy a concern. I have heard some scary delivery times though. Dealers seem to be getting a few in at the moment and then theres a good few months before more come available.
