E30 Gear knob... how do I get it off?!!

Hi does any one have any ideas, I want to change the gaiter.. but can't get the knob off!!!

Pull it. Hard. Whatever you do, don't look at it while you're pulling as you'll knock yourself out when it comes off. A little twisting from side to side can usually help, other than that it's just a case of pull up hard.

Mine's the opposite, it keeps coming off at inopportune moments. Such as whilst going round paddock hill bend at Brands Hatch.
