I recently bought an 02 plate 530 Sport, with the Sat Nav, TV etc. It also has the connection lead and centre arm rest slot for the BMW phone, so I assume that's the comms pack? Does anyone know whether the comms pack comes with Bluetooth connectivity too, because the previous owner very kindly removed the phone when he sold the vehicle.

I have a Nokia 6230 with Bluetooth capability, and there seems to be a Bluetooth type symbol at the bottom of the display (where the time etc is displayed on the bottom of the main TV screen), but I've had no luck in pairing the devices. Having said that, I've not had much luck pairing my phone with any other Bluetooth device, so I don't know if it's my phone that is a problem, or whether there is just no Bluetooth capability on my car.

Any advice/ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan.

I have just got a 52 plate 530 sport with comms etc, and it does have bluetooth but my Nokia slots into a removable holder in the centre armrest - if you have similar then I imagine yours should have too.

Do you have the BMW handbook for the phone/bluetooth ? Because you have to follow a procedure on the comms system and then the phone to get them to talk to each other.

I must admit I have two bluetooth enabled 6310i phones and yet only one seems to connect with the system in the car and connecting that was rather interesting.

If you don't have the booklet, post me and I can scan and fax/email if that helps.

Good luck

Egbert Nobacon,

I've had a scan through the handbook, but can't see anything about Bluetooth. Having said that, it's a think book, so I could have missed it. I would be grateful if you could scan/e-mail me the info you have. I'm pretty sure mine does have Bluetooth, but as I've said, I'm no convinced my phone will pair with it very easily. If I can't get it going, I may take Patrico's advice and visit the local dealer. I always like to have a go myself first.

Thanks for the info.

Dan.

Your car doesn't have bluetooth sadly...

You need to get a Motorolla V10 with BMW software (yikes not cheap).

If you need to use a phone in the car get a retro fitted Parrot system ciro £259/300.

Hmmmm..... Sounds line this could get expensive.... I might give it a miss, and stick with the old fashioned hands free kit...

This is an excellent resource for all things BMW related.
As I have a pre-02 I went for an aftermarket Parrot kit which works superbly(I got a Connects2 interface lead so all the steering wheel buttons work), but the BMW kit shouldn't be too much hassle to install, just a bit more expensive.

That's why I went for a Parrot evo and steering wheel interface, total cost was about £200 and it works perfectly.
