Just bought a 2006-02 High DVD Sat Nav update from ebay. Trying to work out how to actually install it. All instructions I see on t'internet say ignition key in posn 1, eject old disc, stick in new disc and the update should kick-off....

Not happening for me. The TMC goes red, the disc whirrs and then TMC goes green and SatNav works, but it's not updated, either obviously or in the version number on the Settings page.

Any ideas or alternative instructions?

The DVD was an original part by the way, not a hookie disc.

Are you trying to update the firmware (i.e. the operating system), or is this just a new nav disc?

Alternatively, the TMC may need to be activated in one of the menus if you have not had it operating before.

Robertb is right, you can't update the firmware with a map disc (2006-02 High DVD, is a map disc only), you need a firmware update disc, I would download the image and burn one yourself. Check out

Are you anywhere near brighton, I can lend you mine to do the update if you are :-)

Ok I see, that makes sense. So will Beemer charge me for an OS update? Might as well do a hookie, I'll send my brother a link, he likes a techno challenge!

Your local dealer should do it free, or for minimal cost- it is simply a matter of putting the disc in the DVD reader and letting it load pretty much, although mine went wrong mid-install which was a worrying moment... wouldn't take longer than 10 mins.
