Guys, after the severe increase in BMW Warranty prices, this time when I bought my M5 I wasn’t that bothered about a BMW warranty being on it.

Since owning it I have looked at the other options for Warranties.

In the end I have taken out the Gold Cover with Warranty Direct (WD), I spoke to Tim Mahoney who deals with the M Cars he initially quoted me about £1,300 but after chatting for a bit and saying I went on the BMW forums and that I was the BMW E39 M5 Registrar he said he said he would do 13Mths for £1,100 about £84 a month.
Not bad at all and this is taken out by direct debit from a credit card and this card can be changed if you change cards.

Excess WD £25 against BMW £250

Yes of course there are things not covered, and there is a chart that shows how much of the parts they pay

Up to 60,000 Miles 100%

Over 100,000 Miles 50% Not covered by BMW

For mileages in between ring WD

The policy is transferable.

I was happy with what was covered if you want to find out more

Ring Tim Mahoney

You will then get the £1,100 price that was 12,000miles a year

Check to see if that covers the Vanos. When I looked at WD 18 months back the Vanos was specifically excluded!!

Needless to say I kept my money as it was for the Vanos that I wanted a warranty.

I have heard from several people . . .

You will have probs when claiming for ANYTHING!!!

Read the small print - items that are covered are only covered when the FAIL and not when they are worn or about to fail!!!!

They will try their hardest to avoid paying out - BE CAREFUL!!!

This was discussed a few weeks back so may be worth reading over the replies on there:
