Hi. Can anyone tell me if the 6 is similar to 911 in terms of tiny rear seats and boot or bigger? Can it be used to transport wife/kid and pram?

I would say you could get a pram in it (Buggaboo or similar fold down size) - the back seats are pretty bucket like so some of the new style car seat bases might not seat too well.. take one to the stealership and try it - Make sure you get a seat protection mat from somewhere like Mothercare to stop the car seat base marking or denting the leather when left in place if you buy one.. there only £30 or so.

One of the best looking cars on the road IMHO.. shame they seem to loose money so fast - cars are many things, investments aren't one of them!

Good luck..

In terms of practicality the 6 Series is much more practical than a 911 (I presume you're comparing it to a late 996?)
The rear seats are pretty generous compared to a 911. The 6 Series has a propper boot, the 911 has a small front luggage compartment, the C4 being much smaller than a C2. The 911 is a much, much smaller car, the only reason it can accommodate rear seats at all is because of its 'unique' engine-behind-the-rear-axle layout.

In EVERY other respect the 6 Series is in the dark ages compared to a 911.

if you want a 'practical' coupe, try the new XK.

I don't get the dark ages comment. The 6 series is a different kind of car from the 911. The car in the dark ages is the XK. It's largely the same old car under the new body. That makes it ancient.

I believe the original post was practicality of 6 Series v/s 911 for wife and kids.
I drive a 911 with a wife and young family and often have the opportunity to use a 645.
911 is 'acceptable' for wife and kids, at a push (I have two daughters, five and three years old).

You just can't mention 6 Series and 911 in the same sentance. Dynamically, aesthetically, performance, handling, brakes, etc., etc., etc., a 911 is on a different planet.

The 911 is still THE ultimate sports car with 4 seats (agreed the rear are for children only).

IF the OP is after a great all-round coupe/GT then then why not try a Jaguar XK?

The XK is an innovate aluminium monocoque, its some 100kg lighter than its predecessor and the 6 Series.
Jaguar should be applauded for its innovative engineering.

Unlike many on this forum, I love BMW, but I also drive and admire other marques.

Most weekends I have the choice of keys to a 911 a 645 and an XK, the 645 is always bottom of the list. Its not very quick, the ride is awful, the handling is anodyne, the interior is cheesey, and I feel like a bit of a cock driving it to be honest. Not what I want, or expect from a BMW.

Job, thanks for the comments but I'm a little confused. The model I'm thinking of is the M6 and that is ahead of the 997 in performance and in tests not much behind the 997 in handling around circuits. I agree it won't provide quite the same drivers edge as the 997 but if it is more practical then that makes up for that ( for someone like me )

If the M6 is too soft then the solution is defo not a XKR. It looks bland, power is not great by todays standards, tech is old and the image is a bit geriatric. All imho of course
