Service level indicator reading on 325 td

Hi Guys,
I am awaiting all of the bits and pieces to arrive - handbook, service history etc on my '94 BMW 325td. Just a quicky - when I start up the oil service and the inspection indicator comes on for about 5-10 seconds and then goes out. The indicator is showing oil service and inspection service on dark orange, the second to last bar from the right nearest inspection service. Are the blocks done on mileage done? eg. each block represents 1000 miles? Basically, do I have a service impending? Cheers
