E36 M3 Electric Seats

For some reason the electric motor on my drivers' seat seems to have failed (Forward and backward movement). Can the seats be moved without the motor? I need to access two bolts which are covered. OR Can I change the motor without removing the seats. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers Steve.
