I'm ready to change my rear tyres for a new set of pilot sports,i know i can go to a bigger size ie 265/35/19 on the standard rim.
My question is: What is the widest tyre i can fit on this rim and are there any disadvantages?

Rob

If you need a 19" Michelin Sport (less than 100 miles use) for an E46 M3 - get in touch.

I think the only benefit is to the stealer that you buy your tyres from!

Personally I wouldnt bother as it will probably upset the handling a very fine car in oem spec.

CSL size is 265/30/19 not 265/35/19, if you do it you need to go to 235/35/19 on the front or apparently the DSC gets confused about the rolling radius being different front and back.

I have the 265/235 combination on my M3 and at the same time I fitted the Eibach lowering kit and have to say that the handling is worse for sure, not sure if it was the tyres or the Eibach's or a combination of the both but if has felt loose and has alot of lateral movement,i've gotten used to it but i'm considering going back to standard sizes, not sure if it's worth the hassle TBH

taffyracer, did you get the suspension KDS aligned once it had settled in? I've been running 235/265 for 3 yrs or so now and not noticed any issue.

Yes I did, twice to the AC Schnitzer settings, maybe it was the Eibach's but the handling was just not as good as before, too much lateral movement, I think the standard set up needs more rebound with uprated springs

If your running conti's at the moment, then just changing to PS2's will be enough of an improvement for you.
