Do these have to be sourced through BMW? Or does anyone sell the correct OE ones?

Likewise do you need to have the new key coded to the car (an E36) by BMW?

I enquired about a replacement alarm key (plastic radio key fob) a while ago now as i haven't got a spare one and was told by Sytner BMW that the car would have to be booked in for a days worth of work and proof of ID would be essential and they also told me that the work could only be done BMW.

Hope this is of any help.

Yup - sounds familiar. Sort of hoping there might be an alternative.
