Hi guys,

My other half is currently looking to purchase a 330i or 330d touring. We've seen a couple including one with all the toys and sat nav etc. Only thing is it has the wood trim which she hates with a passion!!

My question, is it possible to buy the aluminium trim and if so how easy is it to replace the existing wood with the aluminium?

Cheers,
Graham

Any dealer can do it, but it won't be cheap.

The wood trim is hurl.

There's not exactly a shortage of 330i/d out there, just wait for the right one...

The trim in the E46 3 series is an absolute doddle to remove, it just pops off.

You can buy new trim from ebay or from a scrapyard, it'll take you minutes to replace the lot.

Don't pass over a good car just because of the trim, you may even be able to get a few quid off if it looks like you're about to walk away from it.

I have just agreed to buy a used 330d M Sport touring which has the wooden trim which I also dislike. The dealer in London quoted me about £1,000 to change it but for that cost I reckon I can live with it. Having read the comments above, E bay here I come!

Where do I get the fishbone tool that is mentioned in the BMW link above?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice, doesn't look to bad to do. We are looking at another next weekend which is silver with all black interior so may just investigate changing the black trim to aluminium on that to brighten it up a bit. We'll see!

Nice to know it can be done and seems reasonably easy to do. Not sure where the dealer manages to find £1000 worth of work?

Regards,
Graham
