You know when you’ve had to start your car cold just to move it a few yards, and next time you start it, it misfires like a bastard….

Well normally, once it’s been through a completed heat cycle, the engine management brings all the cylinders back on line again doesn’t it. Well it has always done for me.

A colleague’s 330i seems to have taken it to heart and got the hump though. Any known remedies?

Disconnecting the battery has made no difference when I tried it on a previous car in the past. I assume the engine management system must have it’s own little battery on board.

I think chap’s car need the equivalent of Ctrl-Alt-Del but don’t know if this can be achieved without a trip to his Dealer?

It's probably fouled a plug. If you catch it early enough you can often coax them back to life and they can clean themselves up again once they're running, but it soon gets to the point imo where you are wasting your time and just need to throw the plug away.

Mine 330 this, and I thought it was the "turn on turn off when cold" which I have had probs with before.

However, the problem kept reoccuring, til it wouldn't go away. In the end, the dealer traced is to a sensor of some kind- can't remember which exactly, but may be worth getting it to a garage to plug into the diagnostics.

Indeed, it wouldn't go away for my mate either. It's fixed now though. Coils, according to the people who did the fixing.
