Have just treated myself to this little gem, any suggestions where to look for the few odds and sods that it needs, bit of trim and the chrome bits on the bumpers?

Suggestions on a postcard please.

Is it a genuine M635CSi? If so, well done. Any chance of swapping the exhaust back to something authentic looking?

Also don't BMW put the model badges on the other side of the boot lid? Looking out the window of my office, Merc do left, BMW do right.

I have already removed the badges, and a new exhaust is on the cards, would love it to be genuine M but only M-Tech kit I'm afraid. It still drives quite well, makes a change to get into something that isnt computer controlled and feels like a real car!

Good man. A 635CSi is a lovely car. I wish I'd bought one I saw when I was young and working in Germany. It was up for about £4k.

I spent ages looking for this one, as I wanted this colour, cirrus blue, rather than the normal red, black or graphite!! And was very inexpensive for what I got.

Looks like a good'un!

There are a couple of guys who regularly break 6ers on e-Bay who I've had bits and pieces from. If you can work out how to get in touch with me "off-forum" (in which case, you're cleverer than I am!) I'll try and find the e-mail addresses.

I'm just in the process of trying to sell mine, and I'll be very sad to see it go. A necessary evil with a Z4 Coupe on the way though.

That's wonderful- I've always had a soft spot for them. There's a very sad example sitting in a car park in Parson's Green just gradually rotting away. There are a couple of e30 3-series alongside so I'm guessing it's some "enthusiast" who's run out of money. Sad to see, but lovely to see you've got a good one and I trust you intend to really drive it...

Lovely motor. Lose the silly exhaust and keep those wheels clean; I dunno what it is about that particular pattern, but when they're dirty they look very tatty indeed - which is odd, because when they're clean (as per your picture) they look fab.

Yeah - I've seen the knackered one on Parsons Green - there's an independent BMW garage just round the corner and the stack of rotting Beemers in the car park were all connected with him I think.

Mr Mustard - you're about right on prices. Practical Classics suggests Condition 1 (i.e. well sorted but not concours) should be around the £5,500 mark. You could always buy mine!! - its listed in the classifieds... and very reasonably priced according to the guides.

You do see mint, low mileage examples advertised for considerably more, but it seems that the 6er engine really benefits from regular exercise, and the low mileage ones I looked at all seemed to run quite lumpy through under-use.

In any event - a lot of car for not much money!

Of course its going to get driven, i think the phrase is 'enthusiastically' !! Like all of my cars they get the occasional thrashing around my 'private' track. This one is an auto but am thinking of converting to manual for more controllable rear end fun!

Hello there mate welcome to 6 series ownership !. Mechanical parts you can still get from your friendly dealer but stuff like trim can be EXTREMELY hard to get hold of. For example the wing mirrors are a no-go now. You'll only find these in your local scrap yard...or if your prepared to look hard, there was a volvo from the early to mid eightes that wore the same ones. Spares like trim i'd go to www.fritzsbits.co.uk or call them on 01823-669-425. These guys really know their stuff. Alteratively get in touch with the coupe register at the BMW Car Club www.bmwcarclubgb.co.uk/rm/coupe.as

Thats a nice 6, what size are the wheels? I have been offered some 18'' Alpinas but not sure, mine is in the garage at the moment having a good seeing to, it needs 2 new tyres which could cost more than the wheels/tyres i have been offered.

And yes I am under 50yrs (by 6 months!)

Cheers mate for the comments. The wheels are replica 17in Alpina's. I've still got the original cross spokes but when i bought the car the rear tyers were bald so for the price (and avaiablity) of just 2 of the TRX's i got nearly a full set of what you see there. I don't know if this is still the case but the TRX's were only made in batches and once they're gone, they're gone until next time. I recall being quoted in the region of £300 per corner for the tyers which now you can understand why i went for those pictured above. As for your front fog lights i notice that yours is of `E` prefix-like mine !. I don't know what your knolage of these is so please forgive a bit here but...if you look closely you'll notice some sbutle differance between the two cars. Yours is probably one of the last before they moved over to the Highline spec where as mine is one of the first Highline's.
